Life Skills Education & Group Workshops

4thought is passionate about promoting robust mental health and wellbeing, and our desire is to connect with and reach as many people as we can within our community.

We aim to provide accessible avenues for education and support, and provide practical tools and strategies around some of the common concerns and stressors that impact our mental health. We want to empower people to proactively take steps to self-manage their individual concerns, now and into the future.

Our team have used their collective professional expertise to develop a targeted range of interactive group workshops – giving more immediate access to support resources in times when demand for mental health services often exceeds appointment availability, leaving clients waitlisted to engage in therapy.

Hosted in our onsite studio, Centre4Life, these workshops are an ideal way to supplement and reinforce the benefits of any individual work you do with a mental health provider, or to get your journey started while we secure you a place to work with one of our team.

Please contact reception on 9530 8773 to find out more about whether these sessions are right for you, or to register for our next scheduled date.

Addressing Anxiety – Tools to Tame the Beast

Anxiety is our body’s natural response to a threat or danger. It is a primal evolutionary warning system designed to protect us, alert us to the fact that something in our environment is not right and might pose a risk to our safety. However, there can be times when this thing that was designed to protect us can become too overactive or overwhelming, leading to poor mental health.

Through learning to understand our anxiety and what it is trying to tell us, we can train it, make it our friend and use it to our advantage to help make ourselves stronger, more adaptable and resilient.

Join our hosts, Sarah O’Connell and Manuela Heise, for an informative 1-hour workshop exploring anxiety, and some of the easy tools and techniques which can help harness your anxiety and manage the associated symptoms, to help you to feel better and more in control.

Topics covered will include:

  • Psychoeducation
  • Nutrition
  • Mindfulness & Meditation
  • Tapping therapy
  • Vagus nerve activation
  • Breathwork

The content of these sessions is targeted and adapted to deliver to a range of age groups across the lifespan – from primary school aged children and parents, to teens, through to adults.

Keeping it Real – Tools for a Successful Life

In a society where the multiple demands placed on our time and energy continue to increase, the unrelenting pressures of work, relationships, parenting, and social interaction can overwhelm us and impact our ability to function effectively. In this state, we can find ourselves simply battling to survive the day -rather than harnessing our potential to thrive, perform at our best and enjoy life’s journey.

Louise Johnson, Senior Psychologist and Director of 4thought Psychology, has passionately worked to distil her 20+ years of professional experience and key therapeutic principles into a small group workshop taking a deep dive into this topic and sharing proven strategies anybody can call on to help successfully tackle life’s challenges.

‘Keeping It Real – Tools for a Successful Life’ covers:

  • Understanding and harnessing the messages of emotions
  • Building resilience & adapting to change
  • Managing depression & anxiety
  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing)
  • EFT (Tapping/Emotional Freedom Therapy)
  • IFS (Internal Family Systems/Parts Therapy)
  • Yoga, Mindfulness, & Meditation
  • Trauma release exercises
Keeping it Real is targeted at adults aged 18+ and runs as an initial core series of 3 x workshops (enrolled as a package).  For further enquiries, and to confirm the commencement date of our next session, please call reception on 9530 8773.
